Highlights and Lavender cycling from Gibraltar to the North Cape
In the spring of 2024, a daring Swiss couple embarked on an ambitious cycling expedition. Starting from the southernmost tip of Spain, their goal was to reach the northernmost point of Scandinavia – the North Cape. Over 84 days, they covered a remarkable 7,500 kilometers on their touring bikes, traversing Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and finally Norway. Upon reaching the North Cape, their journey didn’t end. They continued south for another 2,500 kilometers, cycling to Oslo before flying back home.
To minimize the weight they carried, a key consideration for long-distance cycling, they opted for a minimalist cooking setup. This included two sets of Vesuv windshields designed to fit their Toaks 900 ml pot and Hotspot 40 alcohol stoves, which they used twice daily. One set had already proven its worth during a 2023 trek in France, offering a valuable opportunity to test the Vesuv’s durability under extended use.
Lavender kindly shared photos from the North Cape, capturing not only the couple’s triumphant smiles before the iconic landmark but also showcasing the well-used windshield and stove. Despite the rigorous demands of this lengthy journey, the equipment performed flawlessly, demonstrating its resilience and effectiveness even after extensive use.
